Breaking Ground is a returning citizen preparatory training. It hinges on the belief that returning citizens not only need tools and strategies to be successful in their community, but also a sense of hope and purpose that comes from contributing to the process. This interactive curriculum includes a series of topics that address real, honest issues plaguing returning citizens.
Marcus and Matt are two members that endow Reentry Connect with diversity in stories, as each come to us with different pasts but want a similar future: stability. Marcus has been apart of the Reentry Connect family at Living Hope Church for over two years now. His affectionate smile is so contagious and endearing that one can’t help but say hello without any prompting.
Matt’s history with Reentry Connect started a little over three months ago. Matt is always introducing himself to new faces and building his network at each weekly meeting. Both of their stories leading up to Reentry Connect include mistakes and misfortunes, however, since transforming their lives, they have different outlooks on their pasts; they both regard these scars as assets rather than detriments. Each plans to use their missteps as examples to inform young men and women.
