Think Tank offers a variety of training tools and coaching, designed to assist organizations that are working with communities to comprehensively address poverty. We work with churches, nonprofits, businesses & public organizations to offer trainings designed to deepen their understanding of poverty & equip participants with skills to join with people from different backgrounds to fight poverty in their community.

Our Mission

Think Tank, Inc. exists to alleviate poverty by equipping communities to embrace mindsets and practices that restore the social fabric of society.

The Problem

Over the last several decades, our dominant responses to poverty have included building various charitable programs for individuals and families experiencing economic hardship. Many of these programs have only addressed material needs of families, such as housing or food provision. While important, these services are often disconnected from one another and don't address root issues keeping families in poverty.

Tragically, we've lost sight of the strengths that exist in low-income communities and have often failed to invest in human capital and relationships that lead to lasting change.

In an American society that continues to become more diverse, we need greater understanding and more environments where people can connect meaningfully across differences. However, when it comes to poverty, most of us are not equipped to bridge relational divides that exist across economic communities.

Our Essential Practices

Think Tank’s work is guided by a set of practices that we believe are essential for any program, ministry, or initiative to effectively address poverty with lasting results. We believe that when these practices become habits, communities are more empowered to reach their potential. Think Tank offers a variety of resources, training and coaching to help you implement these practices in your community.

Pursue Holistic Solutions: Create conditions for human flourishing by using approaches that support holistic wellbeing - including economic, physical, spiritual and emotional health.

Listen First: Proactively cultivate a culture of listening in order to support the dreams and goals of communities impacted by poverty. Seek to discover strengths and build upon them.

Work With Instead of Doing To or For: Poverty cannot be resolved through one-way, transactional giving, but through transformative relationships that partners with communities in poverty.

Promote Leadership from Within: The best solutions for sustainable poverty alleviation often start on the inside. Invest in developing leaders within communities in poverty.

Build Social Capital: When relationships within and across economic communities are linked together, they create an economy with tremendous potential for positive change.
