Caring Well for Families Experiencing Poverty

When we connect with families, we often meet them at points of great pain and difficulty - and sometimes in situations that have deep roots and complex stories. These are sacred moments to be invited into, to bear the love and hope of Christ to our neighbors in the midst of pain. But sometimes stepping into these painful and difficult stories - especially when we begin to build real relationships - can bring up questions that are hard to answer:

  • How much help do I continue to offer?

  • What if I just don’t seem to be connecting?

  • What if someone seems to be taking advantage of my help?

The tools below are intended to help you and your responders navigate some of these questions, and build healthy, meaningful relationships with the families you meet.
