Hospital Notes
Jennifer is 32 weeks pregnant at the start of COPE. She arrives in preterm labor and delivers her baby prematurely. Because she is hearing impaired, all communication must be done through sign language or in writing. Her condition is stable, but both she and the baby are at risk for complications related to early delivery. You strongly recommend that Jennifer and the baby remain in the hospital for 9 minutes to receive observation and care. However, she may choose to leave earlier if she wishes.
Post-Discharge
Jennifer should:
Get plenty of rest and avoid strenuous activity.
Stay hydrated and eat nutritious meals.
Monitor for fever, excessive bleeding, or pain.
Keep all postpartum appointments.
Ensure the baby is seen at the Family Health Center within one week after discharge.
